Before Peoria Opens for Business

Across Greater Peoria, separate electric bills add up to shared buying power through the Chamber Energy Savings Program.

An oven heats up before the first breakfast order. A machine starts its first cycle. A clinic powers on its equipment. Lights come on behind storefront windows and across office floors.

Every switch marks the beginning of someone’s workday. It also adds to a bill that will arrive whether the day is busy or slow.

For most businesses, energy stays in the background until that bill arrives. Someone checks the total, approves the payment, and gets back to work. Few local businesses have the time to follow the energy market, compare suppliers, and decide whether they’re paying the right rate for their electricity supply.

On their own, most don’t have much leverage either.

But across Greater Peoria, those separate bills add up. A restaurant may not command much attention in the energy market by itself. Neither may a small manufacturer, retailer, or nonprofit. Put their energy needs together, and suppliers are looking at something different: a buying group.

That's where the Chamber comes in.

Through the Chamber Energy Savings Program, Good Energy combines the electricity needs of participating member businesses and takes that larger group to the market. Its consultants evaluate supplier options and help each business understand what’s available for its account. While Ameren continues delivering the electricity, this program addresses the supply.

The Chamber already brings hundreds of businesses together, and this program puts that collective size to work saving costs for everyone.

According to Good Energy, businesses currently participating in the program are saving 15% compared with Ameren’s default tariff. That percentage can sound abstract, but when it hits your budget it becomes room for the people, equipment, inventory, and other expenses that keep your business moving.

Every account is different, so the first step is letting an expert look at the bill.

The evaluation is completely free, and there is no obligation to enroll. Businesses that pay their Ameren bills directly can submit their recent bills and a completed Letter of Exclusivity by September 25. Good Energy will review the information and follow up with the available options.

Tomorrow morning, businesses across Peoria will flip those switches again. The electricity will be the same, but the cost doesn’t have to be.

Request your complimentary energy evaluation by September 25.
