Why the Chamber Is Hosting an Education Address This Summer
The State of Greater Peoria: Education Address will bring business, education, and community leaders together for a timely conversation about workforce, talent, and the future of our region.
For years, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce has hosted State of the City as an opportunity to hear directly from the Mayor of Peoria and discuss the issues shaping our community. This summer, that platform is evolving.
The newly named State of Greater Peoria reflects a broader scope for these conversations. While State of the City will return next summer with Mayor Ali, this year’s program will focus on one of the most important issues shaping our region’s future: the connection between education, workforce, and our regional economy.
On Thursday, June 25, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce will host the State of Greater Peoria: Education Address at Holiday Inn and Suites Peoria at Grand Prairie. Dr. Jerry Bell, the new Superintendent of Peoria Public Schools District 150, will headline the program. Additional speakers will be announced.
As Dr. Bell begins his leadership at PPS, he is asking an important question of the business community: what do you need from local schools?
That question will guide this event. The Chamber is bringing business leaders to the table to help connect classroom learning, career readiness, and the workforce needs employers are seeing every day.
For employers, this conversation is directly tied to the challenges and opportunities that show up in hiring, retention, and long-term planning. A strong education system supports a strong workforce. A strong workforce supports a strong regional economy.
This is an opportunity to be part of that conversation early and help shape the partnerships needed for long-term success.
CEFCU has signed on as Presenting Sponsor, and sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses that want to support this important regional conversation. To learn more about current sponsorship tiers, contact Suzy Watkins at swatkins@peoriachamber.org.
