Did you know the founder of Chicago lived in Peoria first?
Kick off Pride Weekend with a thought-provoking history program hosted by Peoria Proud in partnership with the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. Featured Road Scholar Kyla Williams Tate explores this fascinating piece of Illinois history and traces how migration, history, and digital equity intersect in The Digital Divide: A Migration Story. Through storytelling, poetry, history, and discussion, you'll discover how the Great Migration and other movements across Illinois continue to shape our communities today. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Refreshments will be provided, alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, and the venue is fully accessible with an ASL interpreter.
Free to attend, but tickets are required. Reserve your free ticket in advance to secure your spot.
